How to Create a Budget for Your Household

By

Stability in employment, maintaining good credit, and following a household budget is the key to creating long-term financial security. Good credit scores and wise spending habits will help you save more of your money through lower interest rates and less debt. The following steps will help you maximize your credit scores and create a household budget that will eliminate waste and create savings.
• Step One - Request a free copy of your credit report from annualcreditreport.com. This report includes information from the 3 main credit reporting agencies (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian). You are legally entitled to one free credit report annually.
• Step Two - After you receive your free credit report, thoroughly review the entire credit report for any errors or discrepancies. If you find any errors, such as: late payments, collections, inaccurate balances, or any other inaccuracy you can dispute the errors with the credit bureaus. Typically, the credit agencies reporting the disputed information will investigate the account in question and require the creditor that reported the information to provide proof of the account in question. If the creditor cannot provide evidence that you owe the debt, it would be corrected on your report.
• Step Three - Before you create your budget, you should collect your bank statements, credit card statements, receipts, and any other documentation that shows your expenses.

• Step Four - To determine your monthly income, you should collect your most recent pay stub. For budget purposes use your income that you take home on your pay stub (after taxes). If you are an hourly employee and work full-time or if you are a salaried employee calculating your income will be simple. For individuals that are self-employed or receive tip, bonus, or commissioned income you will need to average your income over the last 12 or 24 months to create your budget.
• Step Five - Always put your budget in written or printed form. You can use a software program to create a spreadsheet or write out your budget on paper. First write down your monthly income and then break down your current expenses. This will allow you to see where you spend your money and how you may be able to cut expenses and save. Further break down your expenses under fixed and discretionary. Fixed expenses are permanent, whereas discretionary expenses would include: entertainment, groceries, clothing, vacation savings, etc.
• Step Six - Review your budget and look for ways to cut your spending. Hopefully, you find areas to save money each month by eliminating unnecessary spending. Try and pay off any credit cards that you carry balances on, before putting any money into your savings.
After you have reviewed your credit report and created a budget, it is a good idea to review your budget each month and make any changes. Also, if your income or bills change, make sure you adjust your budget accordingly and always consider saving before adding new debts. Remember you are entitled to one free credit report annually, so be sure to review your credit annually to check for any inaccuracy or for possible identity theft.

9 Steps to Spiritual Growth

By

For different people having various faiths, spirituality can mean very different concepts. However, we commonly agree that spirituality is about connecting with soul. It is a sense of awareness going far above average thinking. Among pathways to spiritual growth are particular worship, meditation, and contemplation.
Spiritual growth refers to the process of trying to understand the meaning of life, death and the reason for existence. No wonder, it may take years of awareness and practice to reach spirituality. Practicing all the activities that lead to a spiritual path overnight will not automatically bring you to your destination. In fact, every person has his or her own pace to develop spiritually.
When a crisis bumps, all of us need an ability to transcend ourselves at least to have ability to hold on to something higher than our crisis itself. People healthily affiliated with a particular religion usually are familiar with this concept although spirituality is actually different from religion. However, those with or without any religions need to develop spirituality because this is the only way to keep human survival, particularly when facing big crises. If you wish to grow the spiritual element of your personality, you need to look deeply into yourself and start to listen to it more often.
As one embraces a disciplined Spiritual Path, he or she will experience several levels of growth. Here is a brief synopsis of those stages and what to expect in each. According to many spiritualists, spirituality normally connotes a progression through 9 steps:
  1. The egocentric or the first awakening step
This is the first stage of spirituality related with the search to fill the void after the fulfilment of self, basic instincts and desires. As we grow older, typically some needs of pleasure as well as other self-serving habits such as foods, sex, fame, or drugs begin to dwindle and lose their thrill of excitement. They may start to think about the idea of spirituality, by trying to enrich themselves with something above worldly things for themselves. Unfortunately not all are lucky enough to recognize this stage. Worse, they are just get stuck here and thus, they are unable to enter the next level of spirituality development or to produce any of the spiritual growth.

  1. The believing or honeymoon step
At this second step towards spirituality, people may acknowledge the power that creates them. Unfortunately at this point their minds are still undisciplined, while they know just a too little about divine creativity, which could be quite risky. It is because people may have opened their minds to new ideas, but they don't relate it with the discipline of the mind. As the result, this situation often leads them to the third level, the first disillusionment stage.
  1. First disillusionment step
This step is when many people who start believing begin to give up at the same time resulting in pessimism. These people doubt whether their thought about spirituality is going to work. Actually what is really happening on is that it is the best time for these people really learn about real spirituality from reliable sources. This stage is like someone who falls in love but suddenly the reality makes his or her feeling starts to sink in. This is why it is important to note that spirituality is not simple and actually requires a lot of discipline.
  1. Realization step
People are lucky enough to reach this step as they realize that spirituality is not a problem, but they are. However, still there are many pitfalls. Although now people begin to enjoy reading as many spiritual books as the can, attending many spiritual-related seminars, taking spiritual teachers, or even creating contemplation session by their own, still they cannot find many answer in their mind. Only few people can free themselves from this stage to move to the next step.
  1. The conformist or agreement step
In this step people begin evaluating what spiritual teachers or books say about various spirituality paths. At some points they have to decide to agree or disagree with the ideas. They will agree to some ideas when they feel the points fit into what they think they already know. It is actually fine for them to feel they cannot take some ideas. It is however important to recall their past to see whether it is actually the cause why they cannot accept new paradigm.
  1. The push-back step
This step is when people realize that they get new information radically. It means the new ideas they get are totally different to what they have experienced and therefore, cannot fit into their current belief system at all. As the outcome, people push back (usually hard) what they have acknowledged about spirituality. Some people may leave their spiritual teachers while the rest try to replace the old teachers with the better ones, who will not challenge them too much.
  1. The early enlightenment step
For all of those who push back, a genuine spiritual mentor or guide can lead them to experience their first real breakthrough. The spirituality seekers can get a glimpse of what is going on behind the veil for real, and reach some rudimentary skills in altering his or her universe in a much real way. This is glorious but full of risks as at this early enlightenment step many people may leave their teachers or guides as they believe they have found what they are looking for. This could be a big mistake leading to major disappointment. It is important that people realize there are things they still need guidance to give them ability to do the next step of their journey
  1. The wall or mountain step
Those adhering their spiritual paths may eventually face their wall or mountain between their will and the spirituality goal. The wall or mountain here refers to a central issue, crises or challenge of one's life. Only if someone is truly willing to grow and blossom, then he or she is not going to resist to get along with such issues as gift or grace, as hurt as it may look and as hard as it may seem. Crossing this wall or mountain is critical but difficult. Such bravery is what makes only a few people who reach this step can get over their life's main problem.
  1. The paradigm shift step
After people can get over the wall or mountain, they will come to see all in an entire different light by entering the paradigm shift step. This stage is where actually they will have started to gain true skills in making the universe they wish to live in. They will start to realize that they are here and existed for a reason. They likely can see how whole past phases they have undergone for their spirituality quest as being unimportant allowing them to embrace the fullness of their humanity.
This paradigm shift step is where people can realize that spirituality is not just for them or their family, but for something bigger than that, and they have a task and destiny. By succeeding this step people will be able to reach the end point of their spirituality journey, which is also the goal of the spiritual quest. It is when people become fully integrated persons having a new understanding to welcome a whole new Universe. It is when at a very deep level people can have true joy regardless their situation.
Above all, spiritual growth is likely more than just believe as it is really talking about something deeper, our faith. It is faith that can help people in times of troubles. It is an anchor when times of fear, stress and uncertainty come into their life. Without faith, people will never have a place to turn when things in their life get rough or stuck.

What You Need to Know About Leadership

By

Executive Summary
Since the inception of business, organizations have searched for clues to help identify and select successful leaders. They have searched for men and women of vision with that rare combination of traits that help them serve as motivator, business driver, and authority figure. The concept of leadership has been widely observed and frequently studied, but a thorough understanding of what defines successful leadership has always remained just out of reach.
I wanted to find the answer(s) to the age-old question, "What makes a great leader?" After studying the behavioral attributes of thousands of business leaders, the resulting data could reveal commonalities that define strong leadership. What similar patterns or behaviors might possibly be found over and over again? By forming a concise "leadership recipe," the never-ending search for quality leaders could finally be simplified to a standardized set of characteristics that might help predict successful leadership in any organization. But could science and behavioral psychology be successfully applied to extract these leadership "revelations" from the data?
I centered my investigation on 30 behavioral leadership models that were used across 24 unique companies encompassing 4,512 business leaders from all performance levels. These companies included several from the Fortune 500 list. Each of the 30 leadership models was analyzed to identify the most common behaviors that differentiate higher-performing leaders from low-performing leaders. The findings compiled from this data set revealed new evidence that must serve as a foundational piece of every leadership hiring or training endeavor.
Expectations of the Study
Leadership is a concept that is difficult to capture. You know it when you see it, but it is difficult to quantify. The components of leadership are often examined and observed, but the ability to predict successful leadership has thus far avoided the confines of a repeatable recipe. Many approaches have been used in an attempt to document commonalities among successful leaders, but only with mixed results at best. Taking a new approach to the issue, I set out to study the behavioral characteristics of successful leaders in comparison to leaders of lower performance levels. The two main objectives of this study were:
  • To identify the three most important behaviors that are predictive of leadership performance.
  • To identify the level or degree of the three most common behaviors that are predictive of leadership performance.
Behavioral Leadership Models
Before discussing the study findings, it is important to lay the groundwork of this study using the behavioral leadership model. The behavioral leadership model is the cornerstone to this research study since it is designed to capture the behavioral preferences of successful leaders currently working in the position. Essentially, the behavioral leadership model captures the unique combination of behaviors that predicts success. Each unique model was created using the same methodology, but the customization was made possible by using performance data related to a specific position. To create a behavioral leadership model, each organization used the following three-step process.
Define Success-Traditionally, leadership success is determined by education, experience, potential, or other non-performance related measures. For this study, success was determined by actual performance on the job. We want to better understand the behaviors of the real leaders who produce results on a daily basis.
To keep the study focused on leadership productivity, each company defined success based on their business practices, and their leaders were evaluated on their ability to produce the desired business results. Those who did not produce the desired outcomes were considered ineffective leaders while others who produced the desired results were considered successful leaders. Each organization utilized specific performance data captured from those leaders actively engaged in the leadership role. The types of performance data collected ranged from subjective data (i.e., performance evaluations, soft achievement ratings, etc.) to objective data (i.e., store sales, percent to plan, profit metrics, etc.).
Use a Behavioral Assessment-The objective in this step is to capture the behavioral preferences of each leader (across all levels of success). The leaders in each organization were assessed using a behavioral assessment tool that measured 38 core behaviors. The 38 behaviors provided insight into the deeper motivations and preferences of each leader.
Build a Leadership Model-To create the leadership model, the behavioral assessment data was combined with the performance data for each leadership role. The result was a behavioral depiction of successful leadership across 38 behaviors. The leadership model determined how important each dimension was when compared to all 38 behaviors. Understanding the importance provides insight into the comparative ability of each behavior in predicting leadership performance. Equally as important is the degree in which the dimension needs to exist (ex: "high" Attention to Detail, "medium" Assertiveness, or "low" Insight into Others). The degree of a behavior will greatly affect leadership in terms of productivity, communication, and many other leadership activities.
Each leadership model was constructed in the same manner. The specific combination of dimensions (both importance and degree) was a reflection of current performance data from active leaders in the role. The models were customized to capture the true essence of leadership as it exists on the job and as it relates specifically to daily performance or contribution to the organization.
Behavioral Leadership Study
For this study, leadership roles were analyzed across 30 leadership models using the behavioral and performance data of 4,512 business leaders. For each role, a unique leadership model was created to assemble the strongest predictors of leadership according to behavioral preferences as they relate to actual quantified performance on the job. The process included comparing each of the 30 leadership models in a search for common behaviors predictive of leadership success (also considering the importance and degree). The study was based on the following parameters:
  • There were (n = 24) companies represented, some with multi-billion-dollar annual revenues, across (n = 10) industries: Medical, Grocery, Retail, Financial, Restaurant, Hotel, Food Service, Property Management, Industrial, and Customer Service.
  • Successful leadership was defined as a consistent and quantified achievement of current business objectives as designated by the organization. For example, in situations where the organization defined leadership success as achieving a higher "percent to plan," good performance was reflected through a consistent and strong production of high "percent to plan" numbers.
  • The average tenure for the (n = 4,512) leaders with varying performance levels was 2,242 days (over six years).
  • For descriptive purposes, leadership roles were banded according to range of responsibility. For this study sample, Level 1 leaders, or 36.67%, are responsible for a small direct group of employees. Level 2, or 56.67% of the sample, are responsible for a location, site, store, or entire office. Level 3, or 6.67%, were responsible for a region, multiple sites, multiple stores, multiple locations, or multiple offices.
Leadership Study Findings
Importance-Most Frequently Occurring Behaviors
Over the course of the study, each of the 30 leadership models was analyzed and the top ten "most predictive" behaviors were recorded and compared. The objective was to use the top ten behaviors across the 30 models as the method to capture the most predictive behaviors.
The next step was to identify the three most common behaviors (out of the top ten) across the 30 leadership models. The focus was limited to the top three most common behaviors to provide a more concise view of successful leadership. By identifying the three most frequently occurring behaviors, insights would be gained into the three most important behaviors that predict leadership success across a wide variety of leadership roles in a wide variety of industries. The data showed some surprising results:
  • Interestingly, all 38 behavioral dimensions were represented somewhere within the lists of top ten behaviors across the 30 leadership models.
  • Least Important Behaviors-There were two behaviors that were consistently the lowest in importance. Reflective (deep thinking and/or the ability to anticipate long-term outcomes) and Team Orientation (desire to work with groups) had the lowest frequency, occurring in just 10.00% of the models.
  • Most Important Behavior-Across all 30 of the leadership models, Energy appeared in the top ten more than any other behavior (14 out of 30, or 46.67%) among all the leadership models. The mere presence of Energy in the behavioral model did not indicate the degree most suitable for the position, only that it played an important role in the overall behavioral equation for successful leadership.
  • Second-Most Important Behavior-The dimension of Competitive Fierceness appeared in 13 out of 30, or 43.33%, of the top ten lists of the leadership models studied. Some successful leaders may be more competitive while others prefer a supportive environment. As with Energy, Competitive Fierceness was found to be a primary part of many behavioral models in varying degrees.
  • Third-Most Important Behavior-Acceptance of Authority appeared in 12 out of 30, or 40.00%, of the top ten lists of the leadership models studied. Whether these 12 behavioral models required a high, medium, or low degree of this dimension required further study (see the following section).
There were 38 behavioral characteristics studied across the 30 leadership models. The objective was to find the most predictive or most frequently occurring behaviors that drive successful leadership. The research data revealed that Energy, Competitive Fierceness, and Acceptance of Authority appeared in the top ten lists most frequently. The most predictive or most frequently occurring behaviors provide the avenue to further explore the degree or amount of each behavior needed to predict leadership success for each of these three behaviors.
Challenging Leadership Assumptions
Based on the three most important or predictive leadership behaviors (Energy, Competitive Fierceness, and Acceptance of Authority), assumptions can be formed based on common (natural) perceptions of successful leadership. It is a common practice to assume that successful leaders exhibit a strong relation to, or very high degree of, a particular behavior. For the purpose of this study, I examined the varying degrees required to be successful across each of these three important behaviors.
Assumption #1 - Leaders must be "high energy" to be successful.
Energy was considered the most predictive (or most frequently occurring) behavior in 14 of 30, or 46.67%, of the leadership models.
• 21% of the models required below average Energy levels
• 37% of the models required average Energy levels
• 21% of the models required an above average Energy level
• 21% of the models required high Energy levels
• 0% of the models required an extremely high level of Energy
Although the majority of the leadership models required an above average amount of Energy, there were no models that required extraordinary levels of Energy.
Assumption #2 - Successful leaders must be highly competitive to be successful.
Competitive Fierceness was a top ten behavior in 13 of 30, or 43.33%, of the leadership models studied.
• 23% of the models required a more Supportive approach
• 39% of the models required a balance between being supportive and competitive
• 38% of the models required a more competitive approach
• 0% of the models required a high level of Competitive Fierceness
• 0% of the models required an extremely high level of Competitive Fierceness
The majority of the leadership models required an average to slightly above average level of Competitive Fierceness. None of the leadership models required a high or extremely high level of Competitive Fierceness.
Assumption #3 - Successful leaders need a more rebellious nature to be a high performer.
According to the data studied, Acceptance of Authority was considered one of the most predictive behaviors in 12 of 30, or 40.00%, of the leadership models.
• 42% of the models required a more rebellious approach
• 41% of the models required a balance between accepting authority and being rebellious
• 17% of the models required a more Acceptance of Authority approach
• 0% of the models required a high level of Acceptance of Authority
• 0% of the models required an extremely high level of Acceptance of Authority
According to the data studied, 84% of the leadership models required a below average or average level of Acceptance of Authority. None of the leadership models required a high or extremely high level of Acceptance of Authority.
Conclusions Drawn from the Study
Data Point #1-All 38 behaviors play a role in successful leadership. It is important to point out that across the leadership models studied, all 38 behaviors appeared in the top ten of at least two or more of the leadership models. The entire group of 38 behaviors was present and accounted for in identifying successful leadership. This helps us to better understand the need to view each behavior as potentially valuable.
Conclusion-there were no behaviors that could be ignored or excluded from the recipe for successful leadership.
Data Point #2-Successful leadership behaviors are situational. Even the most common or frequently occurring leadership behavior showed up in less than 50% of the models. Stated another way, slightly more than half of the 30 leadership models did not consider Energy (the most frequently occurring behavior) as an important differentiator in identifying successful leadership. The data does not support the notion of a universal or "off-the-shelf" behavioral leadership model that will predict successful leadership.
Conclusion-there was no cut-and-dried combination of behaviors that predicted successful leadership (not even some of the time).
Data Point #3-Most leadership roles required higher than average levels of Energy, but not as high as you might think. Only 21% of the leadership models required high levels of Energy and none of the leadership models required extremely high levels of Energy.
By definition, a high level of Energy is often manifested through lots of activity, but the negative byproduct is hyperactivity, waste, and inefficiency. Practically, an above average level of Energy translates to the leader's ability to keep a group of people focused and moving at the proper pace and in the proper direction without the frustration of hyperactivity. From the follower's perspective, it is important to understand the implications of a sporadic or over-reactive leadership style (extremely high Energy). Think of how frustrating it is to do something and then redo it "just to stay busy" or doing busy work just "because the boss can't sit still." Associates perceive this style as scattered, confusing, and they struggle to find success and fulfillment under such a leadership style. Over time, credibility and respect can be lost, leaving this type of leader ineffective.
Conclusion-The most successful leaders possess above average amounts of energy, but not too much!
Data Point #4-Great leaders are competitive, but they also understand the importance of being supportive. According to the data, 23% of the leadership models required a more supportive approach to leading others. Combined with the 39% of leadership models that required a balanced approach, these findings provide helpful insights to the task of understanding strong leadership. Intuitively, the concept of balancing support with competition makes leadership sense. Leaders must know when competition is appropriate and when being supportive of those around them is more valuable than competing. Think of it as healthy competition-knowing when to turn the competitive juices on and when to turn them off. Without a firm grasp of this concept, overly competitive leaders may alienate those around them and create toxic environments.
Conclusion-A balance of respect for authority and rebelliousness is a common predictor of successful leadership.
Data Point #5-This we know to be true: successful leaders tend to challenge conventional structure and rules. In fact, 42% of the leadership models required a more rebellious approach to leadership. Many organizations rely on their leaders to challenge the current structure and methods that have been historically successful (or unsuccessful, as the case may be). Strong leaders often have an eye for creating positive change that removes stumbling blocks to success.
However, do not go overboard and think that your next leadership hire must behave like James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause." Keep in mind that 41% of the leadership models required a balance between following authority and challenging the establishment. Not to be forgotten, another 17% of the leadership models required leaders to accept and embrace the structure around them. The practical reality is that successful leaders know how to "choose their battles." Sometimes being a rebel is productive and provides the necessary change, but that must be balanced with the recognition of situations where one must accept the current structure and operate within it.
Conclusion-Successful leaders often have a "rebellious streak" that leads them to challenge the current structure and methods, but they choose their battles wisely.
Summary of Findings
Remember the original question: "What makes a great leader?" Contrary to preconceived notions of what we might expect the answers to be-for example, all successful leaders must be high-energy and extremely competitive while battling the powers-that-be at every opportunity-what I found was not nearly so clear-cut. In fact, successful leaders were scattered all over the behavioral board, ranging from a below average degree of one behavior to a high degree of another.
What do these findings tell you about your organization? Everyone is different, and every leadership behavioral model will vary from company to company. Any so-called "Leadership Model" that offers a one-size-fits-all solution is most likely a failure waiting to happen. As proven in the data for over 4,500 leaders, your leadership staff is very different than the one at the company across the street. As a matter of fact, there is ample documentation of extreme differences between leadership preferences in groups working together within the same organization.
What is the solution to identifying and hiring successful leaders for your team? Learn your organization's strongest leadership traits that translate into success on the job. To accomplish this task manually, look to your own executive and managerial team for clues as to the behaviors that help leaders succeed. A thorough understanding of their job function, productivity expectations, and behavior will provide insight into what makes one person more effective than another in a particular role.
There is an easier way to determine the perfect leadership recipe for your organization across multiple behavioral dimensions. The "automated" method is to use a good behavioral assessment to measure the behaviors of your incumbent leaders. In approximately 30 minutes-the time it takes to complete a validated, reliable behavioral assessment-you could have access to a behavioral profile for every assessed leader in the company. From this data, a profile of a successful leader can be generated and used to duplicate your current crop of successful leaders through better hiring decisions. In addition to bringing more successful leaders on board, behavioral profiles provide content for an employee development program that will drive higher productivity for years to come.

A short Zumba video - get ready for the weekend!

Zumba: Still Keeping People Fit Years After Its Inception

By

There are many choices of exercise programs out there and some can be described as "more interesting" than others. Take Zumba, for example, a great program under the category of dance fitness that has been around for approximately 20 years. Zumba is trademarked and owned by a company called Zumba Fitness, LLC.
This class based exercise program was invented by accident by a Colombian man who was a dancer and choreographer, by the name of Alberto Perez. It is an aerobic exercise, meaning that it allows for increases in heart rate and blood pressure during exercise, helping to keep the heart healthy and free of heart disease.
There are components of both dance and aerobics in this program. Many people use it for weight loss, healthy weight management, heart health, muscle toning and for overall fitness. It can be done by people young and old.
Popularity
Zumba is very popular, practiced by about 15 million people per week. There are 140,000 licensed and non-licensed sites for you to try Zumba. It is taught in over 185 countries so there is no good excuse not to try this fun and exciting form of exercise.

The Origin of Zumba
Zumba was created almost by accident by Alberto (Beto) Perez when he forgot to bring along his normal aerobics tape to an aerobics class he was teaching. He decided to improvise with music he found in his car-mostly non-traditional merengue and salsa music. He improvised his first class and soon had a large following in his home country of Colombia. He moved later to the United States in 2001, where he soon met and helped cofound the Zumba movement with two other men, Alberto Aghion and Alberto Perlman.
The team soon sold their program to a company called Fitness Quest. Through Fitness Quest, the Zumba program became licensed and its appeal spread through things like home videos and a string of direct marketing campaigns.
Dance Moves Incorporated into Zumba
A wide variety of dance moves in Zumba has been taken from some of the following dance styles:
  • Soca
  • Hip-hop
  • Merengue
  • Salsa
  • Mambo
  • Samba
Muscles Worked
The dance moves are incorporated into different aerobic moves like lunges and squats.
Besides the obvious benefits of fat burning that comes from the fast-paced cardiovascular workout that leaves you breathless while also strengthening the heart, Zumba also works various muscles groups in the body.
Every single move aims to build strength and lean muscle in moves that are perfectly coordinated to blood pumping music.
Muscle Groups Worked Include:
  • Hamstrings
  • Quadriceps
  • Glutes
  • And virtually all the large and small muscle groups of the body
Lunges And Footwork
Zumba incorporates body rolls and hip shakes, along with lunges and intricate footwork, all of which blend together perfectly to comprehensively work the core and lower body muscles.
It is truly a total body aerobic workout. Good for weight loss and good for building lean muscle mass. You will likely see a six-pack peeking through on your core after a few classes.
Classes Today in Zumba
Instructors in Zumba are first licensed by Zumba Fitness, LLC, and then teach hour-long programs that incorporate both slow and fast rhythms, squats, lunges, and resistance training. The music mostly used is Latin dance, although there is some hip-hop and other musical styles incorporated into the dance routines.
The dance routines keep people going almost nonstop for a fun and entertaining exercise style that rivals many other aerobics class routines. There is even a Zumba Gold program for the elderly that uses routines and styles of aerobics that are more appropriate for people with less vitality and flexibility.
Other Types of Zumba Programs
  • Another program derived from the original Zumba program is Zumba Step. This latest Zumba program is primarily titrated to work on the gluteal and leg muscles.
  • Zumba Toning is also offered, which utilizes toning sticks to help work out the abdominals, thighs and arms, in particular. Zumba Toning is a great program for people who want to sculpt lean and strong bodies.
  • Aqua Zumba is held in a pool and is easier on the joints when compared to other Zumba programs.
How To Get Started With Zumba
After checking with your doctor to be sure this type of intensive training is appropriate for you, you can do Zumba in a number of ways. Gyms, community centers, and private fitness studios offer Zumba classes. These options mean you go to a live class that will include an instructor and members. Another option is to purchase a Zumba DVD and participate it in the privacy of your home.
If you find it difficult to complete a full hour session don't get discouraged, many work up to the full hour and see impressive body changes as their fitness level rises.

Career Success - A Winning Career Game Plan

By

Build a career planning tool box to achieve career success.
We all have our favorite coaches, and if they coach our favorite athletic team, it's a plus. Tom Landry tried to measure the character of his players. Vince Lombardi expected and achieved excellence. Dean Smith brought out the best in his players while playing within the rules. John Wooden spent extra time in designing the best practices possible. Superior coaching is about being our best and beyond.
A significant number of Coach Lombardi's players, for example, achieved financial and personal success outside football. Coaching is about performance whether its career planning or on the athletic field. Effective career planning with an experienced job coach will help us get on the right career path to plan, manage and advance our career.
As a career planning guide the best coach to bring out your peak performance is the person you see in the mirror every morning. If you can't pay for a personal career coach, or maybe there's no one available or you aren't ready, why not be your own career planning coach? Here's a successful and winning game plan to follow:
1. Write out your Personal Career Planning Guide: Write out your career goals. Your career development plan should be specific and measurable. There is power in writing and planning your career goals. Put a copy up on your screen saver. Write out your career plan on 3x5 cards and place them where you can read them daily. Think about your career objectives and frequently bring them up to date. Celebrate whenever you reach a milestone. This step is the most important in your career planning tool box.
2. Focus on your Career Development: Eliminate distractions and keep your eye on your career goals. Life normally is full of frustrations and distractions. Successful coaches do not tolerate the things that drive most of us crazy - they take the time to stop, solve the problem and eliminate the distraction once and for all. Stay focused on your career plan.
3. Control your Surroundings: Top performers know that space management is as important as time management. They generally have neat offices, clean cars, orderly appointment books, and they plan for the unexpected, just in case. Make your space is as productive as possible and you can put your very best work.
4. Superior Performance Today: Don't dwell on the past. It can't be changed. Work your career planning strategy by doing your best today. Show up, be attentive, bear down and do your best. Your outstanding performance today will coach you to reach and exceed your future career plans. Many of life's most important achievements are about doing a superior job right now, on the work that lies right in front of you. Dwelling on the big game next month will only cause you to lose focus on you career plans; the job in front of you is to get the most out of today's work (practice) so when the big game arrives you'll be more that ready to excel.
5. Build daily reading into your Career Plan: As part of your career plan, set aside some time to read something useful, motivating or fun every day. If you enjoy reading science fiction, for example, make a deal with yourself for every science fiction novel you read you'll read two motivation or career related books. Plan on reading at least two books a month, build it into your career planning. Manage your other reading. Everything that comes across your desk or in your email does not have to be read. Use the delete button or the round file. You'll now have more time to read something that advances your career plan. Reading will make a world of difference in coaching you to reach your career goals outlined in your career plan.
6. Make the time in your car Productive: During your commute or when you're driving plan on listening to motivational, educational, learn a language, or just plain fun CD's. The radio is wall to wall commercials or the latest murder and mayhem; not productive use of your time. You'll be furthering your career plan by turning this unproductive time to into something useful. It's always good career advice to surround yourself with the best information available.
7. Develop a Career Coaching Group: As you advance in your career you'll come across people who can help you become successful. Stay in contact with them. Think of them as your "assistant coaches." Run ideas by them, ask for their advice and be open to let them coach you.
8. Build Play and Fitness into your Career Plan: Get fit. Go for a long walk. Use the basketball hoop in the driveway. Have fun, laugh, enjoy the day with friends and family. Build play and fitness into your career plan. Be balanced in your career life planning. Don't neglect the physical side of your career path planning.
10. Be Thankful of your Gifts: Look back on the past week. Ask yourself how many good days or events did you have in the past week. What made them good? Plan on doing more of the good stuff and less of the not so good. Be grateful and thankful to others. Practice a positive attitude.
Having a number of career planning guides like those listed above in your career tool box to assist you in your coaching will help keep you on your planned path. Having written career goals, with a career planning strategy and your books, CD's, friends along with your routine will all help coach you to career success.
Search out the best resources you can find. Build your career plan into your daily routine. Overall your career planning should not be expensive and you'll find it to be one of the best investments you'll ever make. Coach yourself to success.

The Reasons Why Family Is Important In Life

By

Family is the most important and valuable gift that god has given us. It is the first lesson in relationships with others. Family is really an important word. It means to feel secure, to have someone who you can count on, whom you can share your problems with. But it also means to have respect for each other and responsibility.
What family means to me is love and someone that will always be there for you through the good times and the bad. It is about encouragement, understanding, hope, comfort, advice, values, morals, ideals, and faith. These things are all important to me because it makes me feel secure and happy inside regardless of what is going on in my life. This is one of the main reasons why the family is important in our life. Here in this article it is important to emphasize on the importance of family in our everyday life.
Utmost Protection and Security
Family is important because it provides love, support and a framework of values to each of its members. Family members teach each other, serve one another and share life's joys and sorrows. Families provide a setting for personal growth. Family is the single most important influence in a child's life. From their first moments of life, children depend on parents and family to protect them and provide for their needs. Parents and family form a child's first relationships. Family provides all members with security, identity and values, regardless of age. When a member of the family feels insecure or unsafe, he turns to his family for help. He learns about his sense of self and gains a foundation for the rest of his life. This foundation includes the family's values which provide the basis for his own moral code. Spending time with family shows individuals the value of love, appreciation and open communication.
Following family traditions showcases the importance of family, as well. Family traditions are experiences that families create together on a regular basis, whether these involve holidays, vacations or even attending religious services together. Not only do these experiences create memories for years to come, they also give family members a stronger sense of belonging. Families bond together and make each member feel important.
First step of receiving basic values of life
A family is the first school in which a child receives the basic values of life. He learns good manners in the family. The morals and values learnt in family become our guiding force. They make our character. They lay the foundation of our thinking. I feel fortunate to be born in a family where values are inculcated in early childhood. Family is an important and strongest unit of society. It holds great importance in social life. A society is made up of families. Our family has been known for discipline and values. We give great importance to values and morals in life. Since our early childhood we are taught to respect the elders and love the children. We learnt the lesson of punctuality and honesty from our grandfather. It is due to the good education of our grandparents that we could excel both in sports and education. Since our childhood we have been put into the habit of rising early in the morning. This has a natural effect on our health and physical fitness.
Making a right choice in choosing the right life partner family values influences each walk of our life. It is high time that family values be protected and be treated as a tool to eliminate corruption, hunger, inequality, and crime and hatred in our society.
To shape a child's future
The family is your blood and they are the people who accept you for who you are, who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what. The family is one and only place where your life begins and love never end. You may have lots of people in your life, but you won't find a single person who cares the most exactly same as your parents. Some of you may not agree with me, but this is the truth that one day you will realize this by your own. A family is the only place where children study a lot after school. In school, teachers teach children about the subjects which will help them to find a good job in future. But in the home, Family teaches children about habits, discipline which not only help them to find a job but also help them to live a perfect life in future. So the family is very important for kids. When babies come out from mother's womb, they see their parents first and thereafter they spent most of the time with their family until go to school. During that 3 or 4 years is really important for babies to get to know some basic habits from parents, sisters or brothers. So on that period, they get to know many things from family. None of you going to teach bad habits for your baby, I believe. Parents have to be careful in actions in front of their babies because your baby learns habits and discipline from you only.

This is one of the main reasons why the family is important in our life. This is one of the great advantages of family and none of us ever realize this at any time. You may have lots of friends or relations or office mates. They will definitely be with you in your happy times or any successful achievements. But, your parents or sisters or brothers are the only ones will stay with you in your hard and difficult times. Your parents are the only one who understands you much more than any other people do in the world. Because they are your creators and they are the only ones traveling with you from the beginning. So they understand your feelings and always there for you whenever you need someone abundantly. This is the power of family. There are many people can help you, but the family will help you whenever you are alone.
Helps building an ideal society
A perfect family is a great example of the whole society. Father, Mother, children all of them have to work in order to build a perfect family. If any one of them failed then the whole family collapsed. This happens very much nowadays. The good name of the whole family ruined by a single member of the family. That is really sad but nothing to do for that. But if every family member works hard and builds an optimal family, then they are a good example of that whole society. Family impacts very much in society and society impacts very much in the country. So an ideal country not only builds by the government but also each and every family member. So each family is the principal key to the society. This is why the family is important in our life.
Family values are a set of unwritten rules and codes that creates and helps build our perception, vision towards society and many things that we face in our day to day life. Strong family values can instill greater clarity in decision making regarding our life and leads to a relatively easier and more balanced life. Giving strong values as a parent not only protects a child but also create a civilized conscious citizen and help move society towards a more harmless tomorrow. Strong family values can help check all the moral and ethical corruption in various walks of life which otherwise ultimately contributes to inequality poverty crime and what not.
In today's hard and fast world the most successful person are those who can take quick decisions about what they want from life. Family value that helps you distinguish what is morally correct and what suits your value system. Today the single largest task in hands of parents is protecting their children from outside influence which are majorly negative in nature. Injecting strong family values in child since childhood is one such measure that can ensure their safety in a time when direct supervision of child has become near impossible...
Strong source of spreading Love and Shelter
A family is like a nest. In it one can share laughter, joy, tears, successes, failures and problems. Everything becomes easier when you have someone to share. It is how we identify with others and how we view ourselves. It's where most of us learn to trust or be trusted. It's the longest and often times most valuable lessons on love and sacrifice, responsibility and organization of managing ourselves to meet the needs of others important to us. It is putting others before us. Family is not only about blood ties but about the love bond that exists whether friends colleagues, biological or adopted. It is respect and unconditional love No matter what. A family is the person who makes you smile when you feel sad. Your parents are like God, they always love you. The other thing is that a family is a very strong force that nobody can explain. Your parents are the ones that make you mad, but they always love you in the inside. If we didn't have family, then who will care for the children? Nobody. A family is a forever thing that will be always on your side. Remember, there is always love, always.
Thanks a lot... Now I understand the importance of the family, but not all family are friendly to each family members. I don't think all members will support each other since one person get married with the couple and is likely to change... Family should be our first priority, and love them with all our heart, as our choice, but getting good parents and siblings is a choice that is made by God and you can never demand it!
Thanks a lot for having a look at this article. The article is interesting to read and, in my opinion, a good way to remind people that they are people, not animals and realize the mere fact that we live in a society created by people brought up in families, not in caves or jungles.

Mental Knowledge - All Knowledge Is One Knowledge

By

All mistakes are mistakes of ignorance. Knowledge gaining and consequent power is what determines growth and evolution. Knowledge is the result of man's ability to think.
Thought and Knowledge are One. Thought leads to knowledge and knowledge influences thought. Choice is an illusion created by those in control for those who are not. To be in control, you must know. It is knowing how things work and understanding what is going on that gives you awareness of the governing dynamics of reality. It is awareness that puts you in a position of being a master player instead of a pawn on a chessboard.
You can't think of everything and produce all knowledge yourself as fast as you could by using other people's minds, thinking and knowledge. Unifying knowledge of others and your own is the best way to achieve greater awareness in the most efficient way. It is the fastest possible way to gain power. It's all about speed and power.
Fear is power being projected outside of us. If you belief you have no power over something, you become afraid it can harm you. Doubt is not believing in our power to create a desired outcome for a situation. It is all based on belief. Belief based on awareness or ignorance.
All power is from within, and is absolutely within your control. No power is without. Everything that happens without is happening within. All of reality is in your mind.
From a reality creation perspective, fear and doubt can become two of your best friends. When you're feeling afraid or powerless, or feeling doubt about the outcome of a situation, it's a chance to step back and say: "Aha, here is another area for me to reclaim my power." Fear and doubt are transformed from something which blocked you from achieving your goals, to friendly advisors who wave bright orange flags at any place in your life where you don't believe in your own power.
The only cause of fear is ignorance. The opposite of fear is a sense of power. Knowledge is power. To move from powerless to power is to move from not knowing to knowing.
Wisdom, understanding, prudence, intelligence are all knowledge. They are all knowledge of one type or another.
Knowing and knowingness is knowledge. Anyone who thinks this or that is different from knowledge is thinking of knowledge in the partial sense. Knowledge in the total sense encompasses everything there is about consciousness.
The purest definition of knowledge is awareness. Awareness of anything and everything.
Awareness is power, the more you have it, the more power you have over every area of life. Perception is the key to solving all our problems. Understanding the problem dissolves the problem.
Awareness is power because awareness gives you choice. Choice is an illusion created by those in control for those who are not. To be in control, you must know. You must know how things work and understand what is going on. You need awareness to make conscious choices.
Awareness is the first step, the second step is change. You should understand what you intend to change and the reasons behind it. Knowledge brings awareness therefore knowledge is power. All of life is a learning experience for you to become all you can be.
All knowledge is self knowledge. In the end it is all about discovering ourselves. The world without is a reflection of the world within. By learning about the universe, we understand our inner universe. The reverse is also true.
The greatest thing in the universe is mind. Therefore the greatest knowledge is knowledge of mind. Mind is the governing dynamic over all governing dynamics of reality. Mental knowledge is mental power. Mental power is the ultimate power of all.
The ultimate mind is the universal mind. The universal mind is the universal spirit. Knowledge of the universal mind is ultimate mental power. Mental knowledge is spiritual knowledge. Mental power is spiritual power because Mind and Spirit are one.
Transformation comes from renewing of mind. When your awareness advances to the next level, change automatically happens. What you know, you are. Knowing is being.
Being leads to doing. The ability to do anything comes from knowledge. Knowledge is what enables us to move anywhere. All action is movement. All movement is mental.
Knowledge can come in all ways. The aim is to acquire as much as possible so that we can gain more range of movement. The more we know, the more freedom we have to maneuver and the further we can transverse in any direction. The more freely we can move, the more unstoppable we are. The more nothing can hold us back or stand in our way, the more powerful we are.
Knowledge is power. Freedom comes from knowing the truth. Knowledge, power and freedom are one.
Get to the core and the essence. Understand how things happen in the natural way, and how to do things in the natural way. There is no doing but nondoing in that way. One's inferior natural work is better than superior unnatural work. It is the simplest knowledge and first principles you need that can bring you everything you want in life. Every other supposedly advanced forms of knowledge are just spin offs from the simple ones. There is not a lot but only a little to know, for the little is everything.
All you need is the simple awareness that helps you realize the truth in order to free your mind in the natural direction. And to keep being reminded of those knowledge from one to the next, from time to time in order to bring them all back to our yet to be fully solidified consciousness in physical reality. This is the process of our mental shaping and spiritual completion. You have to get the right foundation in order to engage everything else with it.
All knowledge can be organized and reorganized. Essence is the primary thing. Organization is the secondary. As long as everything written in a particular work of knowledge is real substance and not fluff, it is well written. The less fluff there is, the less wastage of mind. The better organized the knowledge, the greater order of mind. The more focused, ordered and clear the mind is, the more powerful it is.
No young man can hope to do anything above the commonplace who has not made his life a reservoir of power on which he can constantly draw, which will never fail him in any emergency. Be sure that you have stored away, in your power-house, the energy, the knowledge that will be equal to the great occasion when it comes. "If I were twenty, and had but ten years to live," said a great scholar and writer, "I would spend the first nine years accumulating knowledge and getting ready for the tenth."
They say that applied knowledge is power. The truth is, action naturally follows consciousness. To know and not do, is not yet to know. When you know and not do, it means you have not really known enough to be compelled to act automatically yet. You just have to know some more until your actions begin to flow with your intentions. When knowledge becomes your thoughts, your thoughts control your being and doing.
It is also true that knowing alone is not enough but you have to use what you know. This is what you have to know as well. Know that you have to use what you know and use it.

If any man thinks he knows (Eido - understand spiritually) any thing, he knows (Ginosko - experiential knowing) nothing yet as he ought to know. Head knowledge needs to be accompanied by experiencial knowing. Spiritual Evolution is about acquiring Gnosis, Illimunation, Enlightenment and Awareness. Reading the word of God is for the purpose of increasing in wisdom, understanding, spiritual intelligence and discernment. Transformation of Mind is transformation of Being.
Some peope have the idea that believing in spiritual things is enough without experiencing. But that is so wrong. Experience is crucial for true knowing. Intellectual comprehension of faith, love and the workings of the universe is important and absolutely necessary. But these things must also be experienced to be truly known. We are here to live and to experience the things of God as a reality. When you experience something powerfully, nothing can take it away from you. Remember that all experiences are mental in whatever form or level they take place.
Even if you have all knowledge, you still have the free will to choose your thoughts. Since thought and knowledge are one, to know correctly is to think correctly. Wrong thinking is ignorance. Right thinking is knowledge. The only evil is ignorance. The only good is knowledge. To sin is to sin through ignorance. Ignorance is the only evil that leads to all other forms of evil including pride, malice and hatred. Choose to think correctly.
All knowledge is mental. All knowledge is one knowledge.
